food dehydrators
Q. Hi, I found you through
Martha Stewart's Website, and am looking for advice on drying the
tomatoes in my
dehydrators, and then putting them into oil. I am assuming a
good quality of olive oil, and anything else maybe a few sliced
garlic cloves or dried peppers?
I have a large
Harvest Saver, a yard sale
dehydrator with element only and just bought an
Nesco American Harvest Dehydrator from your website
www.HomesteadHarvest.com!
Some people just don't know what fun they are missing!
Planning to dry onions next when my sous chef has a day off ( My
husband) And I want to try drying carrots and peas for soup
mix!
Just finished drying peppers, (9 green ones with 6 red, orange and
yellow ones) makes about three cups, and they smell so good, also
dried the stems with seeds pods left on and they turned out so
beautiful, put them in a jar, and will flick a few of the seeds into
barley soup, sparingly, however!
A.
The tomatoes should dry up very nicely
as the temperature in your
Nesco dehydrator is approximately 145 degrees. Using high
quality olive oil, some garlic cloves and dried peppers will help
turn many of your dishes into masterpieces--I'm thinking about all
the wonderful authentic Pizza Napoli I am going to make tonight.

Q. We would like to know
the cost of the
Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator Model D10 by The Sausage Maker
with the optional
stainless steel shelves ( instead of the
chrome ). Also, what would shipping cost to Ohio?
Edna, Columbus, OH.A.
The
Sausage Maker D-10 Stainless Steel Dehydrator are powerful
machines for drying food such as berries and fruit, as well as
drying meats and fish for making jerky. For current pricing,
please visit the links here: either chrome
or stainless
steel shelves. We recommend the stainless if you are going
to be doing volume drying, as well as for the longevity that
stainless offers. This is an excellent unit for the price, and
we free freight for both of these machines to the US48 including
Ohio via ground when you place your order.

Q. I am a fresh fruit
producer, mainly fresh bananas. Dehydration of fresh tropical fruit
is a very new concept in Turkey. I want to get into this business so
I am looking for the right machinery. The
TSM D-12 model seems to be a good choice for the beginning, for
drying bananas and strawberries. But as far as I am concerned, the
machine you sell is not compatible with Turkey's electricity
current. We use 220V / 50 Hz in Turkey and in Europe.
So is there any that you can make the
dehydrator adjusted for our national current level, and do you
think this machine is the correct choice for drying fresh fruit like
banana and strawberry? Or do you recommend something else?
Ozan, Istanbul.A.
Ozan, we have sold a number of our
Sausage Maker D-12 stainless steel food dehydrators, to Europe,
Africa, and ustralia. We suggest you order the machine and
pick up a voltage transformer. You should have no problems
beyond that. Good luck with the banana and strawberry
dehydration business. |
| Q.
I am
looking for a
dehydrator to dry individual fruit pieces such as
cherries and cut up apples, and also to make fruit leather from
fruit puree. Does the
D10 have the type of racks available to do this?
A. We have seen wax paper and or
Teflon sheets used in all the dehydrators we sell with great
success. Making fruit leather should be a snap, and the racks
that come with the
D-10 will work just fine. |
| Q. I've just ordered a
Gardenmaster dehydrator.
Does it come with an instruction manual? I'm a first time user
and have a rapidly growing garden.
A. Thanks
for your recent order. Yes, most of our
dehydrators come with instruction manuals as well as recipes.
